Exterior Before

Exterior Before Among the few first projects was upgrading the exterior with fresh gutters, Andersen windows from The Home Depot along with a new coat of pale gray paint (Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore). The front doors are painted Luau Green by Sherwin-Williams.   "We removed the weeds and brush, then put a brief row of boxwood and also a row of ligustrum supporting them to get a super-clean, manicured appearance," says Ashley.

Family Room Before Even though a sofa with a white slipcover may seem like a risky selection for a household with two kids in regular school, Ashley maintains that "what's practically indestructible" within this space, thanks to sturdy materials: Sunbrella sailcloth in salt for the couch's slipcover, Perennials fabric on the barrel chair and easy-to-clean Novasuede on the feces. The Parsons coffee table is from Crate & Barrel, and Ashley scored the French-style seat at Round Top, a biannual antiques fair in Texas, also had it re-covered in mohair. The carpet, bought in Turkey, covers most of the tile floor, which they did not bother to modify. "This floor isn't my first choice, but it is somewhat neutral, so we left it is," says Ashley.

Living Room Before To create the built-in shelves and the brick wall evaporate, Ashley painted them the exact same warm white because another walls (Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams) and additional doors into the shelves to flip them into cupboards. She painted the inside of the glistening Black Magic by Sherwin-Williams. The shag carpeting was tossed in favour of wall-to-wall seagrass from stained Floors. "I enjoy seagrass because it's a hard surface, so furniture sits on it the way it would on hardwood," says Ashley. The custom-made armchairs are upholstered in Perennials fabric, and Ashley bought the bull's-eye mirror at Restoration Hardware.

Dining Nook Before The home lacks a formal dining area, so the family eats every meal in this corner off the kitchen. A mix of seating encircles the white tulip table from IKEA: Louis XVI chairs upholstered in camel-color leather, a contemporary S-shaped plastic seat and a storage bench topped with a teal Sunbrella-covered cushion. The turquoise-and-white pillows are from HomeGoods, and the Murano glass chandelier is different out of their old home. "It might be too formal here, but I could not bear to keep it in a box in the attic," says Ashley.

Kitchen Before Since they may someday build a new house on this lot, Ashley didn't need to pour a bunch of money to a significant reno. However, being an avid cook, she couldn't stomach the idea of turning out dishes in the outdated kitchen. Her short-term solution: Replace the previous countertops with cheap white linoleum and paint the cupboards inky black, a color Ashley says "provides a space high fashion." She also replaced the cabinets near the dining room with floating shelves. A black-and-white-striped rug from Crate & Barrel and a Roman shade with grosgrain-ribbon trim from Pottery Barn echo the black-stripe detail about the backsplash, they didn't change. The star-shaped lighting fixture is from Circa Lighting.

Sutton's Bedroom Before Authentic, 6-year-old Sutton's bedroom is adultlike, but "I didn't wish to redecorate every 3 decades," says Ashley. She painted the walls can not-go-wrong light gray (Gray Screen by Sherwin-Williams) and had a trundle bed upholstered in sandy-hued Pindler cloth. "It's simple to swap bedding out," she says. "And because his walls and bed are so unbiased, we can change things over time to make colours he loves." The gallery wall is all Sutton-created, except for one print by abstract artist Steven Alexander styled using an oversize mat. The yellow side table is an outdoor piece by McGuire.

Carys' Bedroom Ahead Ashley avoided a full-on pink attack and instead used the color as an accent. "Carys is girly but not a princess," says Ashley, who painted the walls hot white (Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams) and also the ceiling powdery pink (Strawberry Yogurt by Benjamin Moore), which provides the room a light glow glow. A striped rug in Dash & Albert that includes green and khaki helps downplay the pink. The canopy bed, which Ashley had painted white, is from PBteen, the pale pink Roman sunglasses are from Pottery Barn Kids, and the mirrored dresser is from Z Gallerie.

Master Bedroom Before Two mandates Ashley has for many bedrooms she designs, including her very own: Keep the palette neutral and also the appearance symmetrical. She flanked her 5-foot-tall headboard with nightstands in the Longoria Collection shop in Houston and mercury glass lamps from Restoration Hardware. The custom linen window treatments not just look super polished, but also the Roman color over the nightstand also disguises the fact that it's really covering a door, not a window. "To be honest, our room isn't that large, so in order to create our furniture match, the nightstand had to go in the front of that door," Ashley says. "We swapped out the French door which has been there to get a door" A set of velvet appliqu Lacefield pillows from Tuvalu add a pop of color to your space.

Master Bedroom After An abundance of natural light permitted Ashley to go dark in her miniature home workplace, painting it Dark Magic by Sherwin-Williams. By eliminating a cupboard, she made room for a custom made bit: a glass-and-wood desktop designed to rest on two standard-issue file cabinets. Floating shelves that reach to the ceiling keep vertical distance from going to waste. The highlight of the room is a vintage Platner chair with hot pink nubby wool which Ashley found at a mid-century-antiques shop. The zebra-print block is from Williams-Sonoma Home.

Office

Patio Before "One of those things we love so much about this home is the backyard," says Ashley. "There's no dedicated play space indoors for the youngsters, so this is it." The Goforths added a row of Japanese blueberry trees across the rear fence for privacy and set up four elevated garden beds that turn out a steady supply of herbs, tomatoes, and peppers. Brown wicker furniture from Pottery Barn, an outdoor carpet from Dash & Albert, and a customized table make the setting for day and weekend hangouts along with different families. A huge Sunbrella umbrella out of Pottery Barn shades the distance on warm days. The planters are from CB2.
