A Bit of History

A Bit of History To warm up this contemporary black area, designer Candice Olson additional an antique storage hutch. A contemporary print of a timeless chandelier farther bridges the old and new.



Old Meets New The design team in De Meza Architecture desired to unite traditional and modern elements in this 1920s-era bathroom. Designers Gregg De Meza, Jennifer Gustafson and Michelle Nelson nodded to convention using black-and-white tile, but updated the look with a glass tile mosaic which comes with a whimsical message in pixilated form.



Bursts of Color Little pops of citrine add visual interest to the traditional black-and-white palette of this toilet. This display shelving slides out of the way to reveal a medicine cabinet which houses toilet essentials. Layout by Gregg De Meza, Jennifer Gustafson and Michelle Nelson



A Bit of Glitz A washstand is a great option in a bathroom where storage isn't an issue, such as this feminine powder room. Designer Christina Stillwaugh of Jessica Lagrange Interiors combined the gold sink and sconces with a dramatic, large-scale wallpaper that celebrates the pink tones in the rock floor. Effortless Eclectic Style Designer Ashley Astelford carved a inviting powder area from a niche under the staircase in this 1920s Dallas house. The art deco mirror pays tribute to the home's legacy, while fresh surfaces modernize the distance.



His-and-Hers Luxury This tub makes a luxurious space for a few. A freestanding quarter-sawn island centered in the room meets the quartered walnut double doors and offers continuity moving to the room. Modern Country A soft color scheme of yellow, white and graphite leaves the primary bathroom in Sarah Richardson's farmhouse feel as a nation afternoon: fresh and bright. A vintage bathtub and other timeworn treasures fit the old-fashioned home.

Mediterranean Luxe Inspired by the Tuscan structure of this estate, this palatial master bath features custom-designed mosaics. The vine motif on the ground border proceeds in the counter tops.



Cool Colours Imagine getting ready for the day in this elegant, spa-like space. Glass tile on the backsplash and at the couple-friendly shower adds playful color and excitement to the room, even though a flat-screen TV allows you to be entertained and ready before you step outside into the world.



Earth-Inspired Toilet This organically-inspired space proves a bathroom can be both relaxing and striking. The soft gray colors of this tree-studded pattern combine superbly with the textured brown background on the adjoining wall. Layout by Erinn Valencich



A Soothing Spa Retreat The focal point in this expansive bathroom is a round raised place that houses the spa bath and open-air shower. Designer Shelly Reihl David paired the glistening pebble floor with Durango travertine and multicolored glass tiles. Oil-rubbed bronze gear, an iron chandelier and unique accessories complete this elegant look.



Global Chic A round mirror and bi-colored red horizontal tiles mounted in straight lines give this globally-furnished space a modern look. Worldly accessories, such as the stained wooden mask and tribal-inspired drawing, seem right at home against the warm background. Design by Amy Bubier



Modern Minimalism Sometimes, less really is. Within this contemporary space, a stark, angular sink and sparse furnishings let details such as the bubbly pendant lighting and textured door glow through. Design by Elizabeth Rosensteel



Colours from Nature Designer Sarah Richardson integrated colours from nature in the master bath to create a magical cottage look. Mint green, split-face mosaic tile, exotic marble flooring and moonstone details liven up cheap white tiles for maximum effect at a low price. A marble top and luxurious mirror dress up the charming, quaint vanity, and both shutter cabinets deliver vintage-inspired storage. The transom window over the freestanding tub gives privacy yet fills the space with plenty of natural light.



Modern Meets Deco Graceful curves and geometric forms meet in this master bath. The blue vaulted ceiling was made from unclaimed attic space; its own shape is repeated by the soft fabric display.
